Multhani Mitti The moment we talk about natural beauty and skin care ingredients, one of the firth things that comes to our mind is fuller’s earth (Multhani mitti) because of its origin from Multan, Pakistan in Indian sub-continent. It has excellent capability to absorb color causing compounds and impurities in fats, oils and greases. It comes in different colors such as white, green, blue, brown or olive. It is very fine in size and has large surface area that is chemically active with excellent bonding and sealing properties.

FOR SKIN:

     1. Absorbs Excess Oil from Skin:

Being a natural absorbent, fuller’s earth can be used to remove excess oil from oily skin. It can also unclog skin pores and balance the natural pH level of the skin. It’s commonly used as a homemade face pack.

1. Mix together equal amounts of fuller’s earth, rose water, and sandalwood powder.
2. Apply this mixture on your face as a face pack.
3. Let it dry out naturally, and then wash it off with lukewarm water.
4. Repeat daily for very oily skin, or two or three times a week for moderately oily skin.
   

   2. Removes Scars

Fuller’s earth can reduce the appearance of wound scars, minor burn marks or any other kind of scars to a great extent.

1. Mix together ½ tablespoon each of fuller’s earth, vitamin E oil and lemon juice.
2. Apply the mixture on the scar.
3. Leave it on for 20 minutes, and then wash it off.
4. Do this once or twice a week until the scar fades away.
   

   3. Improves Skin Complexion

Fuller’s earth is an excellent cleansing agent that can improve your skin complexion.

1. Mix together two tablespoons of fuller’s earth and curd.
2. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes.
3. Add one teaspoon of mint powder and blend the mixture well.
4. Apply the mixture on your face and neck area.
5. Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes, and then wash it off with warm water.
6. Use regularly, twice a week, to notice a huge improvement in your skin complexion.

This paste can also be used on arms and legs to enhance their complexion. This remedy is equally helpful for a suntan.

      4. Treats Acne

If you struggle with acne and pimples, Fuller’s earth can surely solve your problem. It helps get rid of clogged pores and reduces excess oil secretion, two main causes of acne and pimples.

1. Mix two teaspoons of fuller’s earth, one teaspoon of neem leaf paste, and enough rose water to make a thick paste. Optionally, add a pinch of camphor.
2. Apply the paste over the affected area.
3. Leave it on for 15 minutes, and then wash it off with plain water.
4. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel and apply a mild moisturizer.
5. Use this remedy once a week to keep your skin acne free.
   

   5.Improves Skin Elasticity

Droopy or sagging skin due to age is a common problem. Fuller’s earth can improve skin elasticity to help tighten and keep your skin smooth.

1. Mix one tablespoon each of fuller’s earth, glycerin and honey to make a smooth paste. Mix in one beaten egg white.
2. Apply the paste on your face.
3. Relax without moving your facial muscles until the paste dries naturally. Then wash it off with lukewarm water.
4. Use this remedy once a week.

FOR HAIR:

       1.Treats Dandruff

For ages, people have used fuller’s earth to treat dandruff. It absorbs oil, grease and dirt that cause dandruff. Plus, it facilitates blood circulation in the scalp, which is essential to keep the scalp clean and free of flakes.

• Make a hair pack with equal amounts of orange peel powder and fuller’s earth. Apply it on your scalp and hair. Leave it on for 20 minutes, and then wash it off with water. Use a mild shampoo to wash your hair. Follow this home treatment once or twice a week to reduce dandruff effectively.
• Another option is to mix four teaspoons of fuller’s earth and two teaspoons each of lemon juice and honey in one-half cup of plain yogurt. You can also add a few drops of water to get a better consistency of the paste. Apply it on your hair and scalp and leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing it off. Finally, shampoo and condition your hair. Do this once or twice a week.

            You Will Need

• 4 tsp Multani Mitti
• 1/2 cup Plain Yogurt
• Juice from half a Lemon
• 2 tbsp Honey

Processing Time: 20 minutes

Process:

1. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients to get a smooth, consistent paste.
2. Apply this paste to your scalp and then work it through the entire length of your hair. Focus on the roots and tips the most.
3. Leave the hair pack in for about 20 minutes. You can cover your hair with a shower cap to avoid a mess.
4. Once the 20 minutes have passed, wash your hair with a mild sulfate-free shampoo and cool/lukewarm water. Follow up with a conditioner.

           You Will Need

• 2 tbsp Multani Mitti
• 1 tsp Black Pepper for dry hair/1 tsp Lemon Juice for oily hair
• 2 tbsp Yogurt for dry hair/2 tbsp Aloe Vera Gel for oily hair

Processing Time: 30 minutes

Process:

1. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients to get a smooth, consistent paste.
2. Apply this paste to your scalp and then work it through the entire length of your hair. Focus on the roots and the tips most.
3. Leave the hair pack in for about 30 minutes. You can cover your hair with a shower cap to avoid a mess.
4. Once the 30 minutes have passed, wash your hair with a mild sulfate-free shampoo and cool/lukewarm water. Follow up with conditioner.

           You Will Need

• 3 tbsp Multani Mitti
• 3 tbsp Reetha Powder
• 1 cup Water

Processing Time: 20 minutes

Process:

1. Soak the multani mitti in water for 3-4 hours.
2. Mix the reetha powder to the soaked multani mitti. Mix well and let it soak for another hour.
3. After the hour has passed, apply the hair mask to your scalp and hair.
4. Leave it in for about 20 minutes and then rinse your hair out with lukewarm water.
   

   5. Multani Mitti Hair Pack for Hair Straightening

           You Will Need

• 1 cup Multani Mitti
• 5 tbsp Rice Flour
• 1 Egg White

Processing Time: 15 minutes

Process:

1. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients until you get a smooth, consistent paste.
2. Apply this to your hair and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
3. Comb your hair after 5 minutes so that it is straight. Let it sit for another 10 minutes.
4. Rinse your hair with lukewarm water.

• 2 tbsp Reetha Powder
• 2 tbsp Shikakai Powder
• 2 tbsp Multani Mitti

• A handful of Curry Leaves
• 1 cup Water

Processing Time: 1-2 hours

Process:

1. Grind the curry leaves with 1 cup of water and then extract the juice.
2. Mix this with the other ingredients to form a smooth, consistent paste.
3. Apply this to your scalp and hair and leave it in for about 1-2 hours.
4. Rinse with cool/lukewarm water and a mild sulfate-free shampoo. Follow up with a conditioner.

            You Will Need

• 3 tbsp Olive Oil
• 4 tbsp Multani Mitti
• 1 cup Yogurt

Processing Time: Overnight

Process:

1. Massage your hair with olive oil before bed and leave it in overnight.
2. In the morning, mix the yogurt and multani mitti and apply this mixture to your hair.
3. Leave it in for 20 minutes and then rinse your hair with lukewarm water.
4. Shampoo your hair the next day.
