Thick, lustrous and bouncy hair is a sign of beauty and youth as perceived by society. Naturally, it is not a surprise that most people care a lot about how their hair looks. Any hair-related problems lead to a lot of anxiety and people start spending a whole lot of money on expensive shampoos and other hair-care products without going into the root of their problem. So, let us begin with the basics of hair health and try to understand various types of hair problems and the different natural remedies to those problems.

Some of the most common hair problems are dandruff, split ends, dry and frizzy hair, hair fall, and thinning of hair strands. Our hair goes through severe damage with chemical treatments and styling devices. The remedies for these problems need not be a strain on your pocket. There are a lot of inexpensive natural remedies using herbal products and herbal powders. So friends, here we are with a list of 5 different powerful herbal powders along with some simple DIY solutions for their usage!!

#1 – AMLA POWDER:

Topping the list is our favourite amla powder. Also known as Indian gooseberry, Amla has been revered in Ayurvedic medicine and has been in use for centuries. Apart from its use for hair, it is good for eyes and skin too. Amla fruit is used in several cuisines and has a high vitamin C content.

Methods of Usage:

Volumizer and conditioning pack: Make a paste of amla powder with filtered water to create a lotion consistency. Apply on the entire scalp, starting from the roots and working your way down the length of the hair. Rinse after 30 minutes. Since alma cleanses and conditions, there is no need to use any shampoo or conditioner.

Anti-dandruff pack: Mix together 2 tsp each of amla and shikakai powder in a mixing bowl. Add some curd or yoghurt to this mixture to form a smooth paste. Apply evenly on hair and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and wash with a mild shampoo to get any excess curd off your hair.

Hair fall control pack: Make a paste of 2 tsp each of amla powder and lemon juice. Apply evenly on the roots and hair and leave on to dry, rinse using warm water.

Mask for preventing premature greying: Mix 1 cup of coconut oil and 2 tbsp of amla powder. Heat the mixture on a low flame for 2 or minutes, let it cool. Strain and store the oil in an air-tight container. Massage the oil on your scalp and preferably leave it overnight or at least for 30 minutes. Wash it off with warm water and mild shampoo.

Benefits:

  • Amla powder also brings life to dull and damaged hair.
  • Promotes hair growth.
  • Prevents scalp itching.
  • Reduces dandruff.

#2 – BRAHMI POWDER:

Brahmi has been around as an Ayurvedic remedy since ages. Apart from its use for hair growth, it is used for improving memory and in the treatment of anxiety and stress. It can also be used in its oil form.

Method of Usage:

Make a paste of Brahmi powder with some water. Add a few drops of essential oil like Argan oil or olive oil for better application. Apply on the entire scalp and hair and leave on for 30 minutes. Wash and rinse thoroughly. Brahmi can also be used in combination with amla, tulsi and neem powders.

Benefits:

  • Promotes the overall health of your hair, making it thicker and longer.
  • Reduces split ends and damage to hair.
  • Nourishes the roots and reduces hair fall.
  • Since it acts as a conditioner and reduces dryness of scalp, it prevents dandruff formation.
