Epsom salt–this is no ordinary table salt!! Traditionally, Epsom salt has been used as a bath salt. However, what many don’t know is that, there are a number of other uses and benefits of Epsom salt, which make it a fit compound to have handy in your house. Let us take a look at how Epsom salt works and its many everyday uses.
Epsom salt is an inorganic salt, with chemical composition of MgSO4.7H2O. It is crystalline in nature. The magnesium and sulfate ions present in Epsom salt are the real players here. When dissolved in water, Epsom salt breaks down into its basic components, Magnesium and Sulfate. Magnesium is a basic component in human body, acting as a catalyst for over 300 enzymes. It is present in bones and muscles. Deficiency of magnesium leads to several conditions ranging from neuronal problems to heart problems. By making Epsom salt a part of your everyday routine, you can prevent the deficiency and derive the benefits.
