Winter Care – Home Remedies for Skin Problems

Winter is upon us and the nip in the air is already showing up on some of us – dry skin being one of them. The dry weather can wreak havoc to your skin if you are not paying enough attention to it. This means your skin can turn dry and flaky, grey and pale – not to forget the eternal winter problem of dry and chapped lips. But the good thing is with simple stuff available in your pantry you can take care of your dry skin easily. Here we will discuss a few home remedies for skin problems in winter that you may find useful.

1. Coconut Oil as Moisturiser

There is nothing like coconut oil when it comes to natural moisturisers. Treat dry skin on face with Mesmara extra virgin coconut oil. Take a few drops of coconut oil on a spoon and warm it. Apply and gently massage on your skin for 5-10 minutes. Leave it overnight and wash it in the morning. You can notice the difference in your skin with a few consecutive applications.

2. Olive Oil as Cleanser

Try this homemade olive oil cleanser to soothe your dry skin. All you need to do is take a few drops of Mesmara extra virgin olive oil and rub gently on your face. Next, take a warm damp cloth and let it sit on your face for 5-8 minutes. Use the cloth to wipe away the extra cloth. While the natural ingredients of olive oil cleanse your face it also acts as a perfect winter moisturizer.

3. Oatmeal Bath for Rehydration

Rehydrate your dry and rough skin with a quick oatmeal bath. Add a cup of oatmeal to a warm winter bath. Use it daily throughout the winter to keep your skin moisturized throughout the winter.

4. Oils to Refresh Your Bath

Adding a few drops of oil not only makes it a refreshing bath but is also one of the easiest home remedies for dry skin. Take any oil of your choice, and add a few tablespoons in your hot bath. That’s it. Repeat it every day throughout the winter months.

5. Olive Oil for Chapped Lips

Don’t forget to take care of your chapped lips – one of the main victims of winter. Make a mix of Mesmara extra virgin olive oil and brown sugar and gently rub on your chapped lips to exfoliate dead skin. Wipe it off with a clean and wet cloth. Once done, apply a dry lip treatment on your lips for relief.

6. Aloe Vera for Skin Care

We all know the moisturizing effect of aloe vera. If you have the plant at home, take a leaf and slit it. Scrape off the gel and blend it with a drop of honey. Apply it all over your face and neck to moisturize your skin instantly. You can leave it as is or wipe off if you feel uncomfortable.

7. Honey and Milk Pack as Natural Moisturiser

The goodness of honey is not unknown to us. Take a spoonful of honey and mix it with a spoonful of milk. Apply it on your face and neck and leave it for 5-10 minutes. Rinse it off with plain water. Both honey and milk work as a great natural moisturizer.

8. Yogurt for Dry Skin

Yogurt is a wonderful natural exfoliator that helps you to get rid of the dry and dead cells during winter. Do a weekly massage with yogurt and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with plain water and apply any homemade moisturizer of your choice.

9. Buttermilk as Exfoliator

Just like yogurt, buttermilk is also a wonderful exfoliator. Use it to say goodbye to your dark spots, blemishes and winter dryness.

10. Water Intake for Inner Hydration

Last but the most important one is to keep yourself hydrated. We tend to drink less water in winter because we don’t feel thirsty. Hence you should make a cautious attempt to drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin from within. Sip water throughout the day to say healthy and beautiful.
